4th Grade Hattie Martin Elementary: Robstown, Tx
I can improve my community by fixing all the old houses. By "fixing the old houses", I will give them paint, flowers or whatever they need. I will also pick up all the trash and give everyone recycling baskets. There also will have no more fighting. A lot of my friends live in my neighborhood but my mom never lets me walk. So I will provide crossing guards. When I get bored, I have nothing to do. I love to read so when I'm bored I can go to the library in my neighborhood. And if kids need help in school, I will be glad to provide it for them. And maybe I will have [a] neighborhood president and vice president. They will host holiday parties and will watch out for people who are mysterious. If anybody says [there] is a homeless person on the streets, they can tell me and I will make a shelter. In my neighborhood, we will have fundraisers, games, and the neighborhood Olympics for kids who have nothing to do. I will provide a playground and a pool. Whoever moves in will get a treat from their neighbors. When I think about how I can help, I feel good about it.
